Unfortunately, accidents involving motorcycles and scooters usually result in more serious injuries, which can take longer to resolve. These accidents can be as a result of:
- Motorbike colliding with another vehicle or pedestrian
- Rider or pillion sustaining injuries whilst avoiding a collision
- A pothole on a poorly maintained road
- If you are a pillion and your driver is at fault for the accident
Motorbike riders are considered vulnerable to road accidents caused by defects in the road surface such as road damage, mud, oil, or other spillages on the road. In such cases a compensation claim may be made against the party responsible for the spillage e.g. building contractor or the local authority responsible for maintaining the road. Lack of seatbelts and outside protection make motorcycle accident victims particularly susceptible to serious injuries.
If you had a personal injury in a motorcycle, moped or scooter accident within the last three years and you believe the accident was not your fault, you maybe entitled to make a claim for compensation for any personal injury and associated financial losses incurred, e.g. loss of earnings, vehicle repairs.
